Do violent offenders get rehab in prison before release?

That guy nearly beat her to death & she wasn’t his first victim. She will suffer disabilities for the rest of her life & he could be released in 9 years with “good behavior”?!? It’s frightening that a man capable of bashing in a teenager’s brains could be released after 9 years. I wish Dateline would educate the public on what the prison system does, if anything, to rehabilitate these monsters. Is there a community registry? I fear for his own daughters. They’ll probably be teens when he’s released!

Worth it!

Excellent story. Great plot. The statement: truth is stranger than fiction! Very accurate. I felt frustrated, angry then elated! I wanted to hug the victim. Shake hands with the detective then... well, listen to it. you won't regret it.

Repetitive

I realize that this is audio from a show turned right into a podcast, but it felt like half of the episode was teasers or reminders of what happened so far. (Worse than the other 15 or so I’ve listened to so far). We’re here to listen, commercial breaks are less than a minute instead of over 6; I haven’t forgotten or gone anywhere, I’ve caught every word and I *do not* need to be spoon-fed the story again and again to get it. Also, as the episodes were reposted years after their screen debuts an update wouldn’t be a bad idea.
