The Imitation of Christ with Fr. Joe Roesch

By: The Marian Fathers
  • Summary

  • Jesus said, "Whoever wishes to come after Me, must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me" (Matthew 16:24). This is what Christians have been trying to do for centuries: to become like Christ. The old expression was "imitating Christ"; now we say, "following Christ," walking in His footsteps, to become like Him. Join Fr. Joe Roesch, MIC, as he reads the spiritual classic, "The Imitation of Christ," from beginning to end. It was written in the 1400s, yet sounds like it was written yesterday. Translated into languages all over the world, it is said to be the most well-read book in the world next to the Bible. "The Imitation of Christ" was read and beloved by many of the saints, and offers great spiritual advice for every age. Father Roesch is reading the translation by Aloysius Croft and Harold Bolton, available in a PDF download from CatholicPlanet.com. Support our Ministries here.

Awesome

Fr. Roesch does an amazing job with this podcast. I have read the Imitation of Christ before and it had a profound impact on my spiritual journey - Fr. Roesch enhanced that experience with his excellent and holy commentary after reading each chapter. He has done a similar podcast for the diary of St. Faustina that was also wonderful and I would highly recommend that as well. Thank you Fr. Roesch!

Great way to start your day Jesus focused

I searched for something I could consume each morning to set my path straight for the day. I start with a focused bible reading and then switch to the podcast for one chapter. The rest of the work is done by the Holy Spirit, if I am humble and open. I encourage you to find your own way to set the world aside and seek Jesus each day. Blessings.
