Your account of the House of David Park is spot on!
I was about 8 years old and was often in the talent show held in the beer garden. My tap dance partner and I were participants in the amateur contest. We won our week but lost to a piano playing youngster who was fabulous as well as blind.
It was nearing the end of an era, though. By 1968 when I graduated from Benton Harbor High, the park and its members were gone.

I remember House of David!
