I’m Jane Travis and I’m an ex counsellor that now works with other therapists to grow their private practice, hence the name of the show. I’m the author of the Grow Your Private Practice book and also run the Grow Your Private Practice membership, where counsellors can get together and learn all about marketing, with a special love of all things blogging. Okay, that’s the official stuffy 'about me' bit out of the way, because honestly, it’s so much more than that. The truth is, the thing that really drives me, is helping counsellors - counsellors like you - to get more freedom and choice into your life so can work when you want to, how you want to and with the issues that you’re passionate about. And importantly, to get paid properly to do so. Because you have the freedom and choice to run a thriving private practice whilst also creating a fulfilling life for both yourself and your family. If you want that too, please click subscribe. I hope you enjoy listening.Copyright 2025 Jane Travis Economía Gestión y Liderazgo Higiene y Vida Saludable Liderazgo Marketing Marketing y Ventas Psicología Psicología y Salud Mental

  • Structure or Spontaneity? What Actually Works for Therapists' Content, with Sarah Dosanjh
    Dec 11 2025

Do you need a perfectly planned-out content strategy to stay consistent? Or can you just show up, speak from the heart, and see what sticks?

In this episode, I'm joined by my brilliant friend and fellow therapist Sarah (aka The Binge Eating Therapist) as we get honest about how we each approach content creation — and how different those approaches are.

We’ve both been creating weekly content for year with blogs, podcasts, YouTube, and in this chat, we’re pulling back the curtain on:

    • What actually helps us stay consistent (even when motivation dips)
    • How we work with our personalities, not against them
    • The real benefits of creating content beyond just “marketing”
    • Why you don’t need a Trello board, a ring light, or perfect confidence to start
    • And the surprising ways content has helped us grow as therapists and people, too

Whether you’re thinking about starting a blog, podcast, YouTube channel, or just want to share more consistently, this episode is here to remind you:

There’s no one “right” way to do this. You get to make it yours.

  • An Open Letter to the Counsellor Who’s Finding Marketing Hard
    Dec 4 2025

If marketing your counselling practice feels like a wobbly, messy, “what-the-heck-am-I-doing” kind of experience… this episode is for you.

Because today, we’re not talking strategy or content plans. We’re talking about you - the human behind the posts. The one quietly trying to make it work while wondering if you're getting it all wrong.

In this open letter, I’m sharing a personal message to the part of you that’s second-guessing, doubting, and wondering if you're cut out for all this “visibility” stuff.

    Spoiler: You are.

    We’ll talk about:

    • Why it’s totally normal to feel overwhelmed by marketing
    • What most counsellors get wrong about visibility (and how to shift it)
    • The emotional side of showing up, even when it’s scary
    • And why small, consistent action is more powerful than you think

If you’ve ever felt like the only one struggling to “get it right,” this episode is your gentle reminder that you’re not alone, and that slow doesn’t mean stuck.
