  • Episode 8: Therapy talk - going way down the rabbit hole!
    Nov 20 2022

Another sporadic podcast that alternates between comedy, therapy, and darkness.  As per usual, Nigel and Kym lead you down the rabbit hole of their imaginations where they talk about failure, imagine what animal tinder profiles would look like, share embarrassing experiences, and debate the Kaisen method (the 5 "whys" problem-solving strategy) much to Kym's annoyance as she is forced to provide more information than she wanted to!

  • Episode 7: Playful writing and gagging the inner heckler!
    Sep 5 2022

After a summer break we're back! We explore in comedic fashion how to stop people using you as an airbnb, the trend for big bums, people who wear speedos and thongs in public places, when you accidentally walk onto a nudist beach (Nigel!) and the downside of naturists joining you at your table (again, Nigel!) having too much park-life during an outdoor open-mic, and why nettles have a lot to do with the Scottish being so angry when fighting the English. Plus; new ways of thinking, adapting comedy to the country you're in, being playful with writing (i.e. releasing the inner chimp) and gagging the inner heckler...as always banter, comedy and gripes in equal measure!

  • Episode 6: Being offended and saying things you shouldn't say!
    Jun 30 2022

We discuss people who are easily offended, if people can choose not to be offended or do they simply like to be offended (well, it's something to moan about apart from the weather!). Trigger warning for anyone who may be listening: this podcast may offend vegetarians and vegans. If you are offended, please leave a remark at the end of the audio. This episode also addresses the gender debate, dealing with hecklers, and how to inject attitude into comedy as a stand-up.

  • Episode 4: Is there an idiot pandemic?
    May 25 2022

We ask; are there too many idiots and is there an idiot epidemic? Receiving hate mail when joking about Belgians and people who complain and do nothing about their complaints! We also banter about the trials and tribulations of writing new material, best age for a comedy audience, how performing in front of comedians can be more nerve-wracking and why Louis Theroux needs to interview comedians on...why they hate each other and their audience!

This episode was recorded over Zoom while Nigel had Covid, which he says makes him short-tempered, even though he's usually zen (apparently!).

    May 9 2022

We talk about the dark side of comedy, give advice to people who get offended by comedians, the perils of social media, being annoyed by text conversations and ask why people need to be entertained before donating money to charity. Plus; Nigel demonstrates his command of swear words...Shakespeare style!

  • Episode 2: Being authentic in comedy
    Apr 24 2022

We discuss being behind the scenes at a comedy show with Nathan Caton (one of the top comics in the UK), different tactics for getting ready to go on stage, the best comic storytellers, and a comedic perspective on the yoga industry (there's lots of material there!). We also discuss what we think of so-called influencers, why people who are always happy are irritating, what it means to be authentic, and why this podcast might lead to the first ever 'live' argument. There's a lot to tune into on this episode!

  • Episode 1: What's this all about then?
    Apr 11 2022

An introduction to 'The GripeVine' where we discuss the name, why it's not called podcast moans and what on earth is banter? Plus; We ponder on the questions that every comedy audience wants to know; Do comedians have an ego, what does it feel like to hear an audience laugh at your jokes (clue: it feels like something illegal!) and, if most comedians like being on their own, why do they need an audience? Plus, Nigel plays therapist (on himself) and shares Kym’s current gripe; why do Belgians stare?
