  • Episode 21 - Pricing Flowers for Weddings and Events, how long is a piece of String?
    Jul 17 2025

Today I wanted to open up the conversation surrounding pricing flowers for Weddings and Events. I know this can be a tricky area to navigate for us as florists and whilst I absolutely do not have all the answers, I thought it would be good to have a chat about all the outside factors that can come into play when quoting for weddings and events. As well as why I think we sometimes come up against the challenge of loosing out on jobs due to the client/couple having had a 'more competitive' quote. I hope you enjoy the episode.

Below are the links to my classes and course offerings as well as my contact details if you would like to get in touch with me, it would be great to hear from you! This is the last episode of season 3 but I shall be busy beavering away behind the scenes with season 4 so hopefully I won't be gone too long. Take care and keep sharing the podcast, it means so much. Joanne x

  • Episode 20 - How the Charity Thrive is using Gardening to Change Lives & What is Social and Therapeutic Horticulture?
    Jul 10 2025

Today I am chatting with Amanda Wallace who is head of PR and Media at Thrive. A charity that uses gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people living with disabilities or ill health, or who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable. I met Amanda at the Garden Press Event earlier in the year and was really keen to find out more about this amazing charity and what it is they do. Particularly in relation to the work they do with Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) a terminology I personally hadn't heard of before and wanted to dive into the subject deeper. I hope you enjoy today's conversation. If you would like to find out more about Thrive and any of the courses and resources that they offer, all of their details are in the show notes below.

  • Episode 19 - Using Imported Versus British Flowers with Lindsey from The White Horse Flower Company
    Jul 3 2025

Today I am chatting with the lovely Lindsey from The White Horse Flower Company all about the great debate surrounding using imported flowers. As I'm sure you know by now I am a huge champion when it comes to using British flowers, I absolutely adore them! However I would be lying if I said that as a business I didn't also need to use imported flowers too. I wanted to open up the discussion surrounding the use of imported flowers as I know personally I have felt an increasing pressure within the industry to only be using British flowers all the time. I thought Lindsey would be a great person to chat to about this as I know she has been very open about her perspective on this subject. I loved our conversation and I hope you enjoy listening too!

  • Episode 18 - How to Stand out in the Crowd with Sophie from U.FL.O
    Jun 26 2025

Today I am thrilled to be talking to the incredible Sophie from U.FL.O (Unidentified Floral Object). All about how to stand out in the crowd. The floristry industry is often described as a saturated market and whilst I would probably tend to agree that this is true. How can we stand out and make ourselves and our business more visable? Sophie is renowned for her amazing, original flower crowns. Each one a beautiful, unique artwork. Her floral crowns have taken her all over the world teaching workshops. Alongside her teaching and event floral projects she is also a judge at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. I thought she would be the perfect person to speak to about standing out in the crowd. My conversation with Sophie is so refreshing, I really appreciate her honesty and authenticity. I hope you enjoy listening!

  • Episode 14 - Disability within the horticultural industry, guest episode with Lexi Floral Fanatic
    Nov 14 2024

In today's episode I am chatting with the lovely Lexi from Lexi Floral Fanatic all about disability within the horticultural industry. Lexi is a garden blogger and disability advocate who visits gardens using her mobility scooter. I shared over on my Instagram last year about being born with Spina Bifida which was a huge deal for me as I have spent most of my life not openly talking about it. However I'm realising as I get older that if I want to be part of the change and shed a positive light on disability then I need to find my voice. Hence me wanting to have this conversation with Lexi, to raise some much needed awareness. Particularly within the horticultural industry. Lexi has a really uplifting outlook on life and has so many interesting and useful insights that she shares during our chat. I hope you enjoy listening.
