• Black boys and men suffering in silence. Is the media to blame?
    Apr 26 2023

Join us while we speak with Creative writer, Author, journalist and poet. Terrell Jpk A.k.A "Budd" In this episode, we talk about the negative impact news and other media has on the mental health of black men and their expectations of themselves. We talk about his silent battle with deep depression, and feelings of suicide, identifying where those feelings came from and how he was able to overcome it and live a happy life of abundance through creative writing and journaling. We also discuss his world travels and experiences while traveling around the World and Black.

Has the worlds expectations of black men become unreal and a weight to heavy to bear for black boys in men, adults grooming them from early childhood to become professional athletes or entertainers, and what happens when they can not reach the expectations the rest of the world has set for them.

How news and social media has played a role in this, and the effects it has mentally on black men and boys and their self worth. Have we allowed the world to set standards our kids can't meet and allowed the world to throw them away or look down on them when they are not able to meet these standards.

  • Our farewell to Mr. Cason Founder and CEO Of Casons Fine Meats
    Apr 26 2022

Check out this interview with Mr. Cason Founder and Owner of Cason's fine meats. Mr. Cason has been in the meat butchering business for over 30 years. He's the only black-owned butcher in the state of Oregon and has been serving his community for over 30 years. Mr. Cason will be closing his business soon and had some wonderful business advice, knowledge, and history to share with us.

Be sure to Tune in!! Theotis Cason puts a premium on flavor and fresh, all-natural products.  With more than 35 years of meat-cutting experience, Cason has built his business on positive word of mouth and customers that keep coming back. His meat products are locally sourced – beef from Oregon Natural Meat, pork from Carlton Farms, chicken from Draper Valley – raised without added hormones, chemicals or additives. Cason is the owner/operator of Cason’s Fine Meats, previously located in the historic Kenton District.

His philosophy is simple: provide good flavor and you’ll make people happy. “You taste my barbecue, ribs or chicken, my natural meat, it sells itself – you’ll come back. I’ve been able to feed my family and a lot of other families, and that’s given me great satisfaction,” he says. “That’s what we’re about here at Cason’s.” For your next fresh meats and cuts go to Casons Fine meats located at 515 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and Killingsworth.
