I had so much fun meeting up again with Vielka! She is a voice coach who specializes in teaching children to sing with confidence through her unique voice method.

Vielka believes singing and finding your voice is about far more than just the technical skill - it's about building confidence, self-expression and connecting with your emotions.

She discusses her journey to becoming a voice teacher, from being a shy kid who discovered her passion for singing, to studying classical voice, and then realizing her calling was helping others find their voice.

  • Ep. 46 - Managing our technology: Omaer Rana
    Jun 6 2024

    Welcome to the episode!

Omaer Rana is a coach who helps big tech professionals lower stress and achieve success through his company Surefire Coaching.

He discusses the challenges faced by high performers in the tech industry, such as long hours, never-ending to-do lists, lack of work-life balance, and job insecurity.

Omaer emphasizes the importance of disconnecting from technology and being present, suggesting techniques like doing a "tech flip" where devices are turned off and put away.

He talks about the need to establish boundaries between work and personal life, including truly disconnecting during vacations.

Omaer explores the underlying belief of "not being good enough" that often drives high performers to overwork and struggle with celebrating wins.

He recommends taking breaks from devices, even for short periods, to reclaim a sense of freedom and allow time for reflection.

    The ONE Thing :

One key takeaway is Omaer's recommendation to occasionally leave your phone behind and spend time device-free, even if just for 30 minutes to an hour. This can help reduce stress, increase presence, and reconnect with a sense of freedom and the simpler joys in life that are often overlooked when tethered to technology.

  • Ep. 45 - Leading Beyond The Numbers: Susan Ni Chriodian
    May 30 2024

    Welcome to the show!

Susan is 'That Irish Lady' on LinkedIn!😄

We had a wonderful chat about her work and new book 'Leading beyond the numbers'.

Susan's background was originally in accounting, but she became more interested in working with people and moved into coaching/personal development.

She explores the connection between accounting / numbers and human emotions / the brain's "body budgeting".

We discuss the importance of embracing variation and different perspectives, rather than falling into groupthink. Leaders should foster an environment open to this variation.

Self-reflection, awareness of your impact on others, and being present are key for effective leadership and collaboration.

Susan uses the metaphor of an organization as a living "body" - all parts are interconnected, so losing one part impacts the whole. She also highlights the value of the "messy middle" - the transitional journey between deciding on change and executing it, which is often neglected.

    The ONE Thing:

Effective leadership requires self-awareness, openness to variation/different perspectives, and focusing not just on the end goal but on navigating the inevitably "messy" transition process to get there. Leaders should embrace this messiness as an opportunity for co-creation rather than trying to follow a rigid linear path.

We hope you enjoy the episode!

  • Ep. 44 - Moving Towards Conscious Leadership: Melissa Griffiths
    May 23 2024

    Welcome to the show!

Melissa Griffiths, discusses her work in conscious leadership, empathy, and managing stress in the workplace.

Her focus has evolved from just addressing stress in the workplace to promoting conscious leadership, which involves leading with empathy, bringing your whole self to work, and fostering a people-centric culture.

Research shows that leading with empathy and prioritizing employees positively impacts employee satisfaction, retention, attraction, and ultimately, the bottom line.

Stress is not just a negative force; it can also manifest as positive energy (eustress). The key is recognizing when stress becomes distress and pulls you off-centre.

Authentic leadership involves understanding your values, emotions, and how you show up at work. It's about striking a balance between vulnerability and maintaining authority.

The rise of conscious leadership and embracing emotional intelligence is a shift towards integrating traditionally "feminine" qualities into leadership, creating a more balanced approach.

    The ONE Thing::

Conscious leadership is not just a fluffy concept; it has tangible benefits for organizations. By leading with empathy, vulnerability, and a people-centric approach, leaders can foster a culture that attracts and retains top talent, improves employee satisfaction, and ultimately drives business success. As Melissa emphasized, prioritizing employees is not just the right thing to do; it's also a smart business strategy.

  • Ep. 42 - What's Your Archetype?: Destin Scott
    May 9 2024

    Welcome to the show!

We cover a lot in this insightful conversation!

Destin delves into the fascinating realm of depth psychology and archetypes, particularly the four cornerstones of the human psyche: the king/sovereign, warrior, magician, and lover.

    - Archetypes are universal patterns that serve as the foundation of the unconscious mind, representing the shared wiring and structure that makes us similar.

    - The four archetypes – king/sovereign, warrior, magician, and lover – are essential aspects of the self that we must cultivate and maintain a healthy relationship with.

    - The king/sovereign represents sovereignty, vision, and leadership, fostering the growth of others.

    - The warrior embodies the process, discomfort, and perseverance necessary for growth.

    - The magician represents depth, introspection, and the exploration of the unconscious.

    - The lover symbolizes wonder, appreciation, and the experience of beauty in the present moment.

By understanding and embodying these archetypes, we can unlock personal growth, improve relationships, and ultimately reach our fullest potential. Destin shares practical applications of how these archetypes manifest in various contexts, such as intimate relationships, work dynamics, and personal development.

The key question explores how we can integrate the wisdom of archetypes into our daily lives, using them as a framework for self-discovery, deeper connections, and a more fulfilling existence.
