  • The Good News in Galatians - ch. 2
    Apr 5 2026
Galatians 2. False teachers wanted the Gentiles who became Christians to also follow some of the old law and taught them that they weren’t right with God until they also followed the law. This is Paul’s whole point in writing this letter to them – to show them that Jesus is enough. Jesus is sufficient. But Paul couldn’t have talked about the new life he had in Jesus and the blessings of being in Christ, if Jesus had not been raised from the dead. If he had stayed in the tomb none of this would matter. The Bible tells us that Jesus was declared to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead. What does that mean? It means that Jesus had finished the work God sent him to do. He had accomplished making our salvation possible.

  • The Good News in Galatians - ch. 1
    Mar 29 2026
Galatians 1. It has been said that Galatians is a commentary on Jn. 8:31-32, where Jesus said, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free", because the gospel frees us. The truth that Jesus taught gives us true freedom. Paul writes to the churches in Galatia because they have been led astray by false teachers teaching a "different gospel" that Paul says is no gospel at all. It is a distorted version of the gospel. False doctrine is sneaky. We have to be careful what we believe. We should strive to believe what Jesus taught, passed on to the apostles, who taught the people, and was recorded in the inspired Word of God, and not anything more.

  • How God Saves Sinners
    Mar 22 2026
Acts 21:37-22:16. There’s a common belief that a person is saved when they say they believe in Jesus. It’s taught that at the point a person puts their faith in Jesus, whether that’s in the privacy of their home, at a worship event, at a campout, or at any time, then they’re saved. It’s usually taught that you need to say certain words or a say a prayer that accepts Jesus and then you’re saved. All of this would be fine if, in fact, that’s what the Bible teaches. But is it what the Bible teaches? How do we know if something is true? We have to look at Scripture and see what the Bible teaches. As we get into our study, I want to point out that there’s actually no Scripture where a person is told to pray a prayer to be saved. Baptism is never described in the Bible as an outward sign of an inward grace, or a going public with your faith. In every NT passage where baptism and salvation are mentioned together, baptism always comes before salvation. (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; 1 Pt. 3:21). All the early church leaders after the apostles believed and taught that baptism was necessary for salvation. For 1,500 years baptism for salvation was not questioned. It wasn’t until the Reformation, which began in 1517, that this was questioned. The concept of baptism being an outward sign of an inward faith is relatively new, only coming about in the last 500 years. How then, can it be true?

  • Jesus the Christ: Received
    Mar 15 2026
Matthew 27:22-23. In this series we’ve looked at how Jesus the Christ was promised, how he was presented to the world as the Christ, how he was revealed by the testimony of witnesses to be the Christ, and this morning we’ll conclude this series by looking at how Jesus was received by people as the Christ. Jesus was rejected by many, but he was also received by many. Those who rejected him sent him to the cross like a criminal, but the cross was the very reason he came and the reason we receive him. What have you done with Jesus?

  • Jesus the Christ: Revealed
    Mar 8 2026
John 5:30-47. The Jewish authorities had already been challenging Jesus' authority and even looking for ways to destroy him and he gave four witnesses that revealed he was the Christ. Jesus was revealed as Christ, Lord, Savior, and King, yet they would continue to reject him and therefore reject salvation. But for those who put their faith in him, their lives were changed forever.

  • Jesus the Christ: Presented
    Mar 1 2026
Matthew 1:1-2:12. In this lesson, we want to look at when Jesus first came into the world, the first time the world got a look at Jesus when he was born into this world. Last week, we looked at Isaiah 53, which promised the Savior would come and suffer for our sins. Isaiah also prophesied in Isaiah 9:6-7, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given…" telling about the Savior who would be born into this world. What you do with Jesus effects the rest of your life on earth and in eternity.

  • Jesus the Christ: Promised
    Feb 22 2026
Isaiah 53:1-12. The point of the Bible is Jesus. The Old Testament, Genesis-Malachi, is about Jesus coming. In New Testament, the gospels, Matthew-John, tell us Jesus is here, and Acts-Revelation are about Jesus coming back. God told of the coming Savior through his prophet Isaiah hundreds of years before Jesus came. He told us that God would send his servant to suffer for our sins so we could be saved from them. This was a greater deliverance than they would get from Babylonian captivity, because it was deliverance from captivity of sin and eternal death.
