  • The Good News in Galatians - ch. 2
    Apr 5 2026
Galatians 2. False teachers wanted the Gentiles who became Christians to also follow some of the old law and taught them that they weren’t right with God until they also followed the law. This is Paul’s whole point in writing this letter to them – to show them that Jesus is enough. Jesus is sufficient. But Paul couldn’t have talked about the new life he had in Jesus and the blessings of being in Christ, if Jesus had not been raised from the dead. If he had stayed in the tomb none of this would matter. The Bible tells us that Jesus was declared to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead. What does that mean? It means that Jesus had finished the work God sent him to do. He had accomplished making our salvation possible.

  • The Good News in Galatians - ch. 1
    Mar 29 2026
Galatians 1. It has been said that Galatians is a commentary on Jn. 8:31-32, where Jesus said, "If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free", because the gospel frees us. The truth that Jesus taught gives us true freedom. Paul writes to the churches in Galatia because they have been led astray by false teachers teaching a "different gospel" that Paul says is no gospel at all. It is a distorted version of the gospel. False doctrine is sneaky. We have to be careful what we believe. We should strive to believe what Jesus taught, passed on to the apostles, who taught the people, and was recorded in the inspired Word of God, and not anything more.
