My name is Joe Donar, and my intention for this podcast is to help individuals to create action by opening up, being vulnerable, getting uncomfortable and having hard conversations. By learning how to act, we must first learn how to feel. This gives us the emotional resiliency to overcome any challenge that stands in our way. You can listen anywhere you get your podcast, and please rate and review if you enjoy what you hear. Thanks for your support and I am honored that I get to share my experience with you. Love happy my friends!

In this episode Joe sits down with Mindy Marqui. Dr. Mindy is a Doctor of Chiropractic, an RN and a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. In addition to being a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Mindy is a type 1 diabetic herself and brings a lifetime of experience and understanding to her counseling sessions and personalized diabetic solutions.

After many years working in family practice and urgent care settings as an RN, she began to grow frustrated with how much information the medical system completely leaves out when educating patients on diabetes. So Mindy went back to school, and in 2018 she received her Doctorate of Chiropractic where she learned the importance of functional medicine and treating the body as a whole.

In this episode, we share Talk 4 from J. Krishnamurti, drawn from As One Is. This talk is a powerful invitation to look directly at ourselves and at the ways conditioning quietly shapes our thoughts, emotions, and daily reactions.

Krishnamurti explores what it means to observe without judgment, comparison, or effort. Rather than offering techniques or methods, he points toward a simple yet radical quality of attention: seeing “what is” as it is. From this place of choiceless awareness, he suggests that real freedom does not come through control or discipline, but through deep understanding.

In Talk 4, he touches on fear, habit, and the structures of belief that keep us repeating the same patterns, while gently asking whether it’s possible to meet life without the filters of the past.

This episode is an invitation to slow down, listen deeply, and notice what arises when we stop trying to change ourselves and simply become aware.

Take a moment. Breathe. Listen. Let the inquiry unfold.

  • Fighting For Yourself w/Brad Edmondson

In this episode, Joe sits down with Brad Edmondson, Black Belt and owner of Misfits Jiu-Jitsu in St. Charles, IL, to explore how jiu-jitsu became the lifeline that helped him rise from severe depression into a life of purpose, balance, and leadership. Brad shares openly about starting his training at age 30 during one of the darkest seasons of his life, the mentors who shaped him, and how the discipline of jiu-jitsu rewired his mind, his identity, and his belief in himself.

Together, Joe and Brad dive into the connection between movement and mental health, what it means to build a safe and positive training environment, and how Brad uses jiu-jitsu as a tool for emotional regulation, resilience, and personal transformation. This conversation is raw, inspiring, and filled with practical wisdom for anyone navigating their own internal battles or searching for a path back to themselves.

A powerful reminder that healing doesn’t always start with talking — sometimes it starts with stepping on the mat.
