Stephen Fry's 7 Deadly Sins

  • Resumen

  • Stephen Fry's 7 Deady Sins - I will take each one of the Seven Sins in turn, lay them out on the surgical table and poke, prod, pry and provoke in an attempt to try to anatomise and understand them; I hope and believe it will be, if nothing else, delicious fun and something of a change from the usual run of podcastery.

It's Stepen Fry. It's going to be good.

Fascinating to actually hear the details on how the ideas came about and on the people who came up with them. Stephen Fry as always makes it even more enjoyable to listen and learn.

Great Narrator, awful content

Stephen Fry's acting and voice are superb. Almost worth listening to anything by him just to hear his accent and persona.
However, I decided to dig into this because I was looking for a unique perspective, especially on fundamental ideals that used to be the guidelines for society. We still see the lasting impact of these guidelines today. It is unfortunate that in this podcast, Fry did not explain what/why these vices are discouraged against and then why they are misunderstood or maybe even virtues. Instead Fry took the opportunity to badmouth anyone who agrees with a more "classical" view of vices/virtue and eloquently insulted Jewish, Christian and even Islamic religion, showing how if you agree with anything from these faiths you are bigoted, evil, simple minded and malicious.
I feel that Fry has some deep wound he has recieved from religion and this is one of his attempts to take his vengeance.
