I'm your host, Stuart Cline, MA, a master's degree holder in addiction and mental health counseling, and a success coach with over 25 years of experience leading IOP groups, working with families and individual adults sharing stories, strategies, insights, and inspiration on how to live a happier, sober life.

Welcome as I interview authors, musicians, businesspeople, actors, Ph. D.s, Teachers, and more to offer different perspectives on living a life you are proud of. I believe there is no one way to recover, although I do think there are some core foundational behaviors that are similar across different paths. In this podcast, I ask others how they did it, and you get to hear about what works. I also share stories to teach techniques and help uplift your spirits.

I grew up with two alcoholic parents. One got sober. the other did not. I liked the sober one better. I avoided the trap of addiction because I saw the carnage all around me. I want to help people get the help they need to improve their lives because my mother did, and it changed my life. Let me help change your life for the better.

If you want to hear entertaining stories and learn strategies to help you thrive in your sobriety while mastering the art of managing life’s challenges. Then you are in the right place.

This podcast is to help you navigate the ups and downs of sobriety. You are not alone, and if you listen, you will eventually hear your story, but the stories on my podcast have happy endings.

  • Ep 27 Overcoming Limiting Money Beliefs, Reduce Stress and Thrive in Sobriety
    Nov 30 2025

DId this podcast help you. Please let me and others know to support the show. Thank you.

Do you ever feel anxious, confused, or overwhelmed by money? You're not alone. Most people in recovery carry old money beliefs they never chose — they inherited them. And those beliefs quietly shape how safe, confident, or capable we feel with our finances.

In this episode, we explore the 10 most common limiting money beliefs that keep people stuck — and transform each one into a healthy, grounded belief that supports your recovery, your stability, and the life you’re building.

    You’ll learn:

    • Why your relationship with money is actually an emotional pattern from childhood
    • How shame, scarcity, or chaos from the past get projected onto your bank account
    • How to shift from fear-based money habits to calm, confident stewardship
    • A guided visualization using $100,000 in your hands to reset your nervous system
    • Two new affirmations that help rewire the brain for financial peace and empowerment
    • Tiny daily actions that make money feel safer, lighter, and easier to manage

This is not about becoming rich. It’s about becoming resourced, steady, and supported — so you can thrive in your sobriety and build a life that reflects your values.

If you’ve ever said “I’m not good with money”… or felt guilt wanting more… or feared you didn’t deserve abundance… this episode is for you.

“It is safe for me to receive, hold, and use money in alignment with my values.”

Thanks for listening to Sobriety Now What.

  • Ep 25 Welcome to Holland: Finding Beauty in the Life You Didn't Expect.
    Oct 25 2025

I would love to hear from you. Send me a text here.

🎙️ Episode Title: Welcome to Holland: Finding Beauty in the Life You Didn’t Expect

What happens when life doesn’t go as planned?

In this heartfelt episode of Sobriety Now What?, host Stuart Cline, a master’s-level addictions counselor, therapist, and success coach, shares the moving story Welcome to Holland by Emily Perl Kingsley (©1987, used with permission). Originally written about raising a child with a disability, this timeless piece beautifully captures what it feels like to wake up one day and realize — this isn’t the life you expected.

Through Stuart’s gentle reflection, you’ll discover how this story speaks to anyone learning to thrive in sobriety or navigating major life changes. Holland becomes a metaphor for acceptance, gratitude, and rediscovering beauty in the life you have — not the one you imagined.

    💡 In this episode:

    • A touching reading of Welcome to Holland by Emily Perl Kingsley
    • Reflections on finding peace and purpose in the unexpected
    • A simple weekly invitation to notice beauty in your own “Holland”

Sometimes, the journey we didn’t plan becomes the most meaningful one of all. 🌷
