Centering the voices of female-identifying trailblazers, the "She Shall Speak Series" aims to amplify the narratives of female activists, scholars, philanthropists, and STEAMinists from the African diaspora. We seek to use our platform to commemorate the work of young changemakers, discuss complex social issues, embrace triumph in the face of life's adversities, and push for action amidst societal inequities. Tune in every Wednesday at 3:00 pm EST as we innovate, recreate, and re-write the narrative. Together, we will tell our story.Denia Smith Ciencias Sociales

  • Dear Black Girl… Be Limitless with Kayley Chery
    Jun 21 2023

From bus boycotts to the frontlines of #BlackLivesMatter, Black women have always been at the forefront of resistance movements for centuries… and we often face varied challenges in these spaces. Today on #DearBlackGirl… we talked with Kayley Chery, a STEM and educational equity activist based in Manhattan, New York. Together, we explored what it's like to navigate the grassroots organizing world as a Black woman, facing tokenization while embracing the fullness of one's identity.

    ABOUT KAYLEY:

Kayley Chery is a passionate student based in Manhattan, NY. She is dedicated to making an impact in the world by talking about the importance of exposing young girls of color like herself to Climate Science, Computer Science, and Social Justice. She believes that having a platform to speak your mind is a blessing, but knowing how to use that platform is a skill. She has spoken at Verizon Headquarters about the importance of introducing young women in underrepresented communities to the tech field and has led discussions at her school about anti-racist education. She also worked with the NYC Civic Engagement Commission to rethink what youth civic engagement looks like. Kayley is currently attending NYU, where she continues to support efforts to make NYU a more equitable place through IMA/ITP's Equitable Working Group.
