Episode by episode, Season 4 conditions you to accept its finale's outcome. Irene Vaggan doesn't achieve her fairytale ending, thankfully, while Emma Leaphorn works hard at hers, begrudgingly. Much of Diné culture, as depicted by DARK WINDS, surrounds Ghost Sickness.
