  • Jerry Garcia’s Tiger, Melissa Auf der Maur, and the Return of Crossroads
    Apr 7 2026

In this episode of Rock Talk Studio, I look at three stories that each reveal something bigger about rock history and culture. First, I explore the sale of Jerry Garcia’s iconic Tiger guitar and what it represents as one of the most significant artifacts in rock and roll history. Then I turn to Melissa Auf der Maur’s new memoir, Even the Good Girls Will Cry, and the intimate, personal perspective it brings to the mythology, chaos, and emotional texture of the ’90s alternative scene. Finally, I discuss the announcement of the Crossroads Guitar Festival and why it continues to matter as a celebration of blues roots, classic rock, and guitar-driven music across generations.

I listened to the Little Steven episode about his book Unrequited Infatuations. I loved the "set" format of the show where the host breaks down the show into sections or sets. The first being the overall review and then following up with his recommendations for both big fans of the artist and more casual fans about whether the book or documentary would be for them. I would fall into the casual fan category for Little Steven and found the review of
his book really interesting without giving away too much . I definitely want to read the book after listening to the podcast. And I absolutely will be listening to other episodes of Rock Talk Studio.
