  • How to Talk to Your Teen so They Will Listen
    Jan 11 2022

Tips for getting your teen to listen:

    1. Let them come to you. It's hard not to always be trying to help your kids, but at some point they need to learn to solve their own problems. When they need your help, they will come. When they come to you, they are  more likely to listen to what you need to say.
    2. Practice active listening.  Be engaged. Ask questions if you don't understand. But don't attempt to problem solve.
    3. Validate their experiences. For a teenager, and even for most of us, it is so important to know we're being heard.

    Nov 30 2021

Here are a few of the signs to look for if you think your teen has an eating disorder:

    skipping meals

    fasting

refusing to eat certain food groups--like carbs,

    purging (throwing up),

    taking laxatives,

    over-exercising,

    taking diet pills

    hiding food,

    drinking highly caffeinated energy drinks.

taking ADHD meds to suppress appetite.

Have you noticed any of these in your teen? Call your pediatrician or general practitioner immediately.
