I believe that we need to be looking at both mental health and guns. People with mental health issues should not have guns. How can we make sure that people with mental health issues, diagnosed or not, do not have access to guns. In addition, what about the kids under 18 who commit mass shootings, getting guns from family members. If they did not have access to guns, a lot less people would be dead. My suggestions are: Mandatory mental health classes, groups, sessions starting in 3rd grade. Also for the parents of the kids that perpetrate mass shootings, fines and jail time or community service. We have that where I live for kids drinking. Of course the kids get punished too. I agree that a gun is an inanimate object and that mentally health is a big issue in these incidents, but put the two together and you have gasoline and a match.

I both agree and disagree
