Left Me Still a Little Cold

This is a dramatic and informative series and definitely worth listening to. However, it has some significant holes. Was there really popular support for the regime in the Soviet Union under Khrushchev? Did the people of Cuba really fail to rise up against Castro because he was widely popular? I don’t think so. The author naively asserts such things, notwithstanding his evident knowledge of the Cold War and the research he has done. He fails to appreciate the role of terror in maintaining communist regimes. In addition, his lengthy discussions of the role of military avionic technology in the Cold War are very interesting but they get a little boring and not entirely convincing. What’s the point? Unfortunately, the author fails to close the loop.
