  • Women in Parking (Part 2): The Work That Costs Nothing
    Mar 31 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

This episode gets practical. From simple, no-cost changes—like rewriting job descriptions to attract more diverse candidates—to building psychological safety and creating policies that actually support women in the workplace, Jade and Hannah share what works, what doesn’t, and where organizations still fall short.

They also explore the power of community: the role of peer networks, trusted sounding boards, and “finding your people” in building confidence, navigating career decisions, and unlocking leadership potential.

Plus, a candid look at what real commitment looks like inside organizations—from equitable pay and promotions to who gets second chances—and why intent only matters when it shows up in decisions.

And in a lightning round, Jade and Hannah share:

    • The best advice they’ve ever received
    • The most underrated leadership skills in parking
    • What the public still misunderstands about the industry
    • And the moments that made them most proud

This isn’t just a conversation about supporting women—it’s about eliminating wasted talent, perspective, and leadership across the entire industry.

If Part 1 asked why this matters, Part 2 focuses on what to do next.

In this special two-part episode of Parking Live, host Matt Darst turns the microphone toward his own co-host, Jade Neville, joined by Hannah Fuller, Director of Commercial Strategy and Partnerships at Unity Five, for an important conversation about leadership, visibility, and opportunity for women in the parking industry.

Together they explore what it really takes to move beyond good intentions and create meaningful pathways for women to advance in the sector. From the difference between mentorship and sponsorship, to the structural barriers that still limit leadership opportunities, the conversation highlights the practical steps organizations can take to drive real change.

Jade and Hannah also reflect on the growth of the Women in Parking community across the UK, Europe, Australia, and beyond — showing how authentic networks and shared experiences are helping reshape the industry.

The discussion goes beyond theory, offering concrete actions leaders can take today: increasing visibility for team members, intentionally sponsoring emerging talent, and removing barriers that prevent people from participating fully in the industry.

In Part 1, the conversation covers:

    • The difference between mentorship and sponsorship — and why sponsorship matters more
    • The leaders who championed Jade and Hannah early in their careers
    • How the Women in Parking movement grew into an international community
    • The invisible barriers that still limit women’s advancement in the industry
    • Practical leadership actions that can create real opportunities in the next 30 days

Part 2 continues the conversation with more insights on leadership, industry culture, and how organizations can build more inclusive pathways for the next generation of parking professionals.

  • Smart Streets, Smarter Data: Michael Belsky on Chicago’s Enforcement Evolution
    Mar 3 2026

    Send a text

What happens when a city stops enforcing parking based on anecdotes — and starts enforcing based on evidence?

In this episode of Parking Live, hosts Jade Neville and Matt Darst sit down with Michael Belsky, Comptroller for the City of Chicago, to unpack Chicago’s Smart Streets program and the broader transformation happening behind it.

While Smart Streets uses automated camera vehicles to identify bus lane and bike lane violations, the real story goes deeper. Chicago has paired technology with data science, operational analytics, and outcome-based decision-making to rethink how enforcement works at scale.

    Since launching Smart Streets:

    • Citation issuance increased by 158% without adding staff
    • Productivity including warnings rose as high as 760%
    • Repeat violators declined
    • Enforcement zones expanded from 46 to 192 based on risk and congestion data

But this isn’t just about efficiency.

Belsky discusses how Chicago uses dashboards, hardship scoring, payment plans, and equity-focused deployment models to ensure enforcement is fair as well as effective. The city even reallocated booting operations using predictive data, shifting impact away from underserved communities and increasing successful payment outcomes.

    You’ll also hear:

    • Why parking enforcement is fundamentally about public safety — not revenue
    • How outcome-based budgeting and KPIs are reshaping city management
    • Why enforcement technology must evolve continuously
    • How Chicago is expanding Smart Streets through CTA buses
    • What other cities can learn from Chicago’s approach

As Belsky puts it: if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it.

This episode is a deep dive into what happens when governance, analytics, and curb management work together.
