Hate speech is protected by the First Amendment's free speech rights. However, Attorney General Pam Bondi, either not knowing or not caring about this constitutional protection, expressly threatened to use the powers of the Department of Justice to "target" people who engage in hate speech. What's worse, when she tried to issue what some have called a "walk back", she neither corrected nor retracted her initial constitutional blunder.
