Boyle wasn’t just another academic hiding in the ivory tower. He was the legal mind who wrote the Biological Weapons Anti-Terrorism Act, who hauled war criminals into international courts, and who called out the United States government when it broke its own Constitution.

At a time when Barack Obama expanded drone strikes, launched foreign wars without approval, and spied on the American people, Boyle was a one-man wrecking crew. He said it was unconstitutional, illegal, and flat-out grounds for impeachment. And he went further — warning that Obama’s reckless march into Ukraine risked a direct clash with Russia, even noting Vladimir Putin had put his forces on nuclear alert. Boyle compared it to the Cuban Missile Crisis — the most dangerous moment of his lifetime.

Now, more than a decade later, Professor Francis Boyle has passed away at the age of 74. But his warnings still cut like a knife.
