A game was played in Los Angeles Friday night, and the Phoenix Suns came up on the short end of things against the Lakers. Phoenix was shorthanded as it was without Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Jordan Goodwin and Haywood Highmsith. Grayson Allen was later ruled out for the entirety of the second half after sustaining a hamstring injury in the first half.

With the seventh seed locked in, the Suns did not have much of anything to play for Friday, while the Lakers are still jostling for positioning in the West standings. For the Suns, the bigger focus was next week’s opponent in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament, which is yet to be decided. In Portland, the Trail Blazers defeated the Clippers, which could be a hint at who Phoenix will face Tuesday.

The Phoenix Suns will look to get back on track in their home finale as they host Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night. It’s the second end of a back to back for Phoenix, which blew a 21-point lead to the visiting Houston Rockets on Tuesday.

In addition to it being the 41st and final home game of the regular season, it is Game 80 for the Suns, who enter the night with a 43-36 record on the season. Phoenix can no longer move out of the Play-In Tournament range, but it still has work to do to clinch the Western Conference’s seventh seed to ensure that it will play on its home floor during the Play-In Tournament.

With tonight’s game being the second end of a back-to-back, head coach Jordan Ott suggested that the Suns may not have their full complement of players. In that case, it will be on Devin Booker to lead his group past the presumptive Rookie of the Year in Flagg, who has been playing some of his best basketball as of late.
