In Season 1, Episode 12: Broadway Malady, Jessica Fletcher reluctantly goes to the Great White Way where she becomes involved in (other people’s) family drama. She investigates how a supposed drifter is involved in the lives of the ultimate nepo babies Patti and Barry Bristol, engages in some light ethical malfeasance by sweet talking privileged information out her tedious attorneys, and figures out how record video direct from the TV using a VHS player. All in a day’s work for JB Fletcher when it comes to solving a murder.

In Season 1, Episode 10: Death Casts a Spell, Jessica falls under the spell of an ambitious young assistant, but not that of a hypnotist, when she travels to Lake Tahoe and solves his locked room murder. We also visit every room in the hotel, casino, event space, golf course, pool, gift shop, kitchen, and rooftop that we can find in order to figure out who the killer is.
