Part 1 tracks Mark from a 1955 birth in Fort Worth through a tense home, rocking tics, and the “Little People” fantasy, into a teen slide—drugs, skipping school, a short runaway to Miami—followed by a 1971 born-again turn. We cover his YMCA work (the kids called him “Nemo”), his relationship with Jessica, Covenant College, cheating on his girlfriend and the guilt that sent him into depression, and a failed suicide attempt in Hawaii—where a passing fisherman woke him up. From there we follow the hospital stay, a steadier stretch, meeting and marrying Gloria Abe, and the jobs that didn’t stick. By 1980, the debt is paid off but the mood swings get worse. Catcher in the Rye moves to the center, the Little People come back, and his anger at John Lennon grows—burned records, “bigger than Jesus,” and calling out “phonies.” We end with October 1980: the gun purchase, the “John Lennon” signature crossed out on his resignation, and flying to New York. We’re talking starvation nightmares, marrow-boiled bones, and that gallows scene where he sang a Cree death song, cracked a joke about “Swift Runner’s stew,” and kicked the trapdoor himself. Then we jump over to Sucker Lake for Jack Fiddler, the legendary shaman, fourteen-time Wendigo slayer, and the guy locals begged to “fix” possessed relatives before they went full cannibal. You’ll hear how two mercy killings put him on a collision course with the Mounties, why he ended up cooking rabbit for his captors while still in leg irons, and how he slipped those irons, walked into the spruce, and hanged himself with the same snare line he’d used on suspected Wendigos. We wrap with the culture clash that followed. Never thought I would literally GUFFAW when listening to a podcast about killers, cults, supernatural,etc. The roasting between Dave and Mike is hysterical and Ian's laughter... even better. I work with a few nurses they are now hooked to you guys! The beers cracking open, the ice clinking into the glass... and Dave's whiskey slur. keep it coming guys!!!

One of my favorite podcasts! The guys are funny smart and they riff really well together. Ian does a good job keeping things on track and he is a cutie, Mike is a babe, and Dave is hilarious. This is the podcast I suggest to EVERYONE!

Ian, Dave, and Mike do a stellar job telling about macabre, culty, and the things that go bump in the night. They take a light approach to things no so very pleasant. Not for the squimish or prudish. Power on guys. oh BTW? I think Olivia Wilde is hot as hell🤣
