High-powered Hollywood talent agent (and ex Christmas-hater) Mackenzie Monroe is back at it again this Holiday Season. After solving the double murder in Evergreen, Ohio, and getting a handsome new boyfriend, small-town lawyer Nick Tenenbaum, in the process, Mackenzie is ready to kick back and relax this Christmas.
But Christmas has other plans for her. Nick's uncle John died suddenly and Mackenzie must accompany Nick to Garland, Ohio, and to Mistletoe Manor where John was the groundskeeper for years. Once there, Mackenzie is greeted by the extremely wealthy and very strange Mistletoe family who not only have their own secrets, but one of them is also possibly a murderer. The story itself seems fine, but I wish Audible would play the episodes in proper order—I started with Part 1, and the next one that played was the final installment. That’s on Audible.

The narrator has a pleasant enough voice, but the delivery feels flat and disengaged. Every sentence trails downward in tone—sometimes almost guttural—which makes it sound as if she’s bored. While her diction is clear, there’s little emotion or energy in the reading.

Additionally, the recording picks up every swallow and breath sound, which can be distracting. I think I’d enjoy the story much more with a narrator who brings it to life and with a bit of cleanup to remove those background noises.
