If this is your first experience with the series, it is not a good idea to listen to this audiobook. It is entirely changed, from small details to larger story beats, everything has been rewritten to accommodate an American audience. The overall premise seems to be the same, and the reading is very well done, but it disregards the source material so much it is NOT the same story anymore.

The music and voice acting is great. Not so great that this is an adaptation rather than original. Two good things about this adaptation is that the pacing, the way the scenes are laid out seems to be better that in webserial . At least what I could see from the first few chapters. The deal breaker for me was that the changes were iresponsibly made and numerous aspects of the story are made worse because of this. While minor, the changes are not surface level - they impacted character design, societal norms, they cut off small ties to future books and make mysteries more bizzare and harder to reason through... Even listening to TTS is better than this.

with lotm getting an anime I think an audiobook would have been amazing to see but this has so many changes from the original that it shouldn't even exist. it would just be better to listen to the audiobook on YouTube or anything else except reading this

there's so many issues that YouTubers started making videos about it

I couldn’t listen past the first chapter because this audio book didn’t follow the actual book. The main thing that made me mad was that they changed the main characters name from Zhou Mingrui to Kade Quin. They are not even remotely the same.

The main characters name is wrong.
