The Philadelphia Phillies win a WILD ONE on a Wild Pitch to get past the Nationals, 7-6!

Thanks to a two-run homer from Kyle Schwarber, a solo homer from Johan Rojas and some stellar pitching from Zack Wheeler, the Phillies were able to take a 3-1 into the 7th inning and THAT’S when things started to get crazy!

The Nationals were able to tack on another run on the 7th, when CJ Abrams took Matt Strahm to make it a 3-2 game.

In the 8th, Jose Alvarado, with little help from his defense found himself in a bases loaded no out situation. The Phillies lefty went on to strike out the side to get out of the jam. Then in the bottom of the inning, the Phillies plated two more on an RBI double by Treat Turner. Turner later came in to score on a wild pitch for a 5-2 Phillies lead.

In the 9th inning, Orion Kerkering allowed four runs to score, three coming on a Nathaniel Lowe three-run homer that gave the Nats a 6-5 lead. Like Alvarado, Kerkering wasn’t helped by his defense. Johan Rojas allowed a line drive to go over his head in center field and later, Trea Turner fired high of Bryce Harper at first for what would have been the second out of the inning.

Alec Bohm led off the 9th with a single and scored on a very close sac fly by Johan Rojas. Then Bryson Stott walked it off with some aggressive and also smart baserunning, taking home on a wild pitch by Nationals reliever Brian Finnegan.
