Local Business Spotlight: Atlas Restaurant Group -- The Choptank

A kid hustled in college selling pizzas. Once out of school, he opened up an ice cream shop. And then a deli, and then a full-service restaurant, and today Alex Smith, the founder and CEO of Atlas Restaurant Group, owns more than fifty locations across five states! Of course, Annapolitans are most familiar with The Choptank!

With the expansion of their footprint in Annapolis, with two restaurants in the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel expected to open this fall (Armada and Marmo), and The Admiral's Cup in the former Stevens Hardware building scheduled to open in a few weeks, we wanted to chat and learn a bit more about Atlas, how they grew, and how they become a part of the communities they serve.
