It was the mid-1970s. Julia Gorton shows up to New York City with a Polaroid camera and a lot of enthusiasm. It was an exciting time for the girl from Delaware who jumped right into the music scene to take photos and document the people who would come to define that interesting place and time in NY’s history.
Over the past several years, Julia’s work from that time has appeared in several publications and on her popular instagram account, @julia_gorton_nowave.
She’s just released her first photo book, it’s called NOWHERE NEW YORK: DARK, INSULTING & UNMELODIC. This is an amazing book. If it’s still available I highly recommend you jump online and grab a copy for yourself.
