Productivity and Home Organization for Moms with ADHD Are you tired of feeling like the only Stay-At-Home mom who can‘t get her act together? You know you have time while the kids are gone - and you feel like you are busy - but you drift from one completely unrelated task to another, focus on things that really don‘t matter, and avoid the tasks that need to get done... Then all of the sudden you realize it is time to grab the kids and you feel that you‘ve accomplished nothing. Welcome Home! This is the Joy Loving Home Podcast. I‘m Joy Ridenour, wife, mom of 4, & unorganized professional organizer! I have a heart for ADHD moms and kids. After spending years learning and organizing for other people I realized that there is a real need to turn the concept of being well planned and organized upside down. It shouldn‘t be created by Type A, naturally organized people as a way to ”fix” you and your home! Organizing, planning & productivity should FIT the way your brain thinks. Albert Einstein said ”Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” Well fish, lets quit trying to climb trees while being given tips by monkeys who cannot understand how our brains think. Join me in the water and learn how to swim with the current of your life! It is time to say YES to unorganized organization and flexible productivity! This podcast is for you if: * You feel trapped by rigid schedules and overwhelming to do lists. * You always feel chaotic and like you are pulled in a million directions. * You feel like you are failing to meet expectations and always letting someone down. Truth Bomb: Nothing is wrong with you! Your ADHD brain works differently than the neurotypical brain. We can learn to use the best parts of our brains to our advantage! Life doesn‘t have to be so hard, we just have to take the path less traveled. Let me be your guide. Let‘s have grace in our struggles and encouragement as we strive to make some changes that align with our family first priorities. We can stay intentionally flexible with our plans and learn to navigate life with ADHD while creating space in our lives and our homes for spontaneous joy! Join me as we work to improve our productivity and simplify our homes in new ways, together! • 245: The ADHD Mom’s Tactical Game Plan for October–December
    Oct 1 2025

It's time to harness the best part of your ADHD brain! The end of the year, our brains kick in on the urgency and creativity of the last months full of holidays, activities, and chaos. In this episode Joy, a professional organizer and mom of four, guides ADHD moms through a practical, three-month holiday planning method using three sheets of paper to brain-dump, highlight date-sensitive tasks, and make quick decisions: do it, delegate it, or ditch it.

She shares tactical tips—nonlinear pending lists, color-coding, and visible placement—to reduce overwhelm, harness motivation, and create more joy during Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

  • 244: From Guilt to Experiments: A Better Way to Love Your Home if You Have ADHD
    Sep 19 2025

Joy, a professional organizer and mom of four, explains why rigid routines often fail for people whose brains crave novelty. Instead of chasing a single "perfect" system, she recommends experimenting with flexible strategies that match your current life phase—baby, toddler, busy-car life, or empty-nesting—so you can reduce shame and find changing systems that actually work for you.

    Sep 12 2025

Joy is just that, joyful. But not in an annoying way. She is kind and optimistic and takes the shame and guilt out of all those executive functioning skills that we all struggle with, and then beat ourselves up about. I found her podcast one day as I was sitting in a mountain of laundry sobbing and feeling like a failure. She has unique suggestions of “pending” sticky notes in place of our never ending two do lists that are completely unrealistic. She takes the shame out of having “clutter” and does an episode explaining it like suitcases for a trip that was a light bulb/life changing moment for me. It’s the first time I’ve ever felt hopeful about my home, and been able to laugh at my quirks that she also has. Instead of feeling alone, overwhelmed, exhausted, shameful and guilt ridden, I listen to her as I fold laundry and it’s the first time ever, that I’m caught up on laundry.
Can’t wait to convert our playroom that never gets used, into a “toy library”.
She is a genius!

If you are a Mom with ADHD you need this, you just don’t know it yet!

She reminds me of myself especially the way I think through the things. She refers to a few authors that I already follow and enjoy watching or listening to.
Although she refers to other people sometimes, she brings a lot of fresh ideas and twists on others ideas. She is always sure to give credit where credit is due. I'm excited to see where things go in the months to come.

She thinks the way I do

I am an ADHD Mommy, and there are a lot of podcasts for moms of ADHD children, but not a lot for us moms with it. I like this podcast because it deals with the fact our brains are different, that keeping house and taking care of children is going to look different. It’s nice to hear a more experienced mom with ADHD say it’s okay we are all struggling with this. My biggest problem is money and budget, my mind literally does everything it can not to do it. That planning strikes fear into my little ADHD heart! It’s nice to know, while it might not be the same trigger but they have similar triggers. And I don’t feel as terrible about my personal struggle.
