He shares his long journey with weight loss and how intermittent fasting transformed his life, helping him lose 60+ pounds, from a high of 265 pounds. Through various trials with different diet methods over the years and even medical prescriptions, James has found intermittent fasting to be the key to achieving his health goals.James delves deep into how he first encountered intermittent fasting over a decade ago. Initially skeptical, his real transformation began around seven to eight years ago when traditional calorie counting and diet attempts failed to yield lasting results. This led him to explore intermittent fasting more seriously. His thorough research into the health benefits related to autophagy, neuroplasticity, and overall metabolic health convinced him to adopt this lifestyle.Throughout James's discussion, he highlights significant improvements in his health metrics, such as reducing his blood pressure and BMI, as well as the challenges he faced from skeptical family members and friends. Despite initial resistance, especially from his wife and children in the medical field, James stood by his commitment to intermittent fasting. He prefers natural and wholesome meals, and keeps his window flexible while also remaining consistent. Triple J works for the federal government, he’s a minister at his church, and he wears a lot of other hats, as well. Triple J shares his inspiring journey of health transformation through intermittent fasting and lifestyle changes. Starting from a background of spiritual fasting, Triple J faced significant health challenges, including type two diabetes and a high A1C level. Through a combination of keto and intermittent fasting, he successfully lowered his A1C and ultimately came off all medications and put his diabetes into remission. He discusses the importance of clean fasting, listening to his body, and adapting his diet to maintain his health. The conversation also touches on his heart surgery and the ongoing journey of recovery and family legacy. At one point in his journey, Triple J experienced some self-sabotage, and he needed to work through that challenge. He explains how community support has been instrumental in achieving health goals. She remembers first being self-conscious about her weight at the age of 7, and that set her on a path of not feeling confident in her body. Despite these struggles, she was always health and fitness focused. Even so, after going through menopause, she found herself at 197 pounds in December of 2023, and she knew she needed to make a change. Watching her parents struggle with both health and mobility later in life made her determined to keep herself strong and healthy, but she lost confidence that she could lose the weight she had put on. In April of 2024, Suzanne was listening to the Fit Strong Women podcast, where she first encountered Gin, who was a guest. Intrigued, she read Fast Feast Repeat immediately, and started fasting. She didn’t have confidence that IF would work for her, but by July/August of that year, her clients suddenly started asking her if she was losing weight. That gave her more confidence, and now, a year later, Suzanne is down around 50 pounds. She is no longer on two medications she used to take, and she feels amazing. I do commend Ms Stephen’s for her hard work in inspiring and supporting intermittent fasting, which has worked well for thousands now and for me too so far. However in her material there is an undertone of competition with other intermittent fasting experts, communities and coaching programs which is distracting. Also there is an attitude that her way is the only way to intermittent fast, when it seems that flexibility is key to adhering to fasting and to tailoring fasting to differing needs, lifestyles, and people’s biologies. Other programs, like The Fasting Method have much more scientific backing (studies referenced in The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung) and use behavioral strategies to help inspire adherence. Also Gin almost always takes over her interviews, gushing about her own experience, detracting from the interviewee’s experience. Sorry but it can be hard to listen to at times. But I do usually take away at least one or two tips from each story, so I grit my teeth and listen.

I love hearing g everyone’s stories on their IF journey! We are all so different and it’s good to hear the journeys people have taken to their health success. Also Gin is a great interviewer and I really love listening while I exercise and drive! This is a great podcast!
