    AOI Inside Illustration: Handmade Illustration

This episode is part of the Handmade Illustration of 'Inside Illustration', the bi-annual suite of content from the Association of Illustrators.

Many illustrators create work with physical materials, and in this episode we’re discussing making illustrations with paper sculpture with award winning Gail Armstrong, looking at how she’s collaborated with second guest, Editorial Director, Preschool & Complex Novelty at Templar Books, Ruth Symons, in creating the paper engineered Paper World non-fiction children’s book series.

With long term experience in the industry, Gail and Ruth cover the appeal of the paper sculpture form, how that attracts readers and how Gail overcame some of the challenges for their Paper World series. Gail also touches on using digital tools, and her notable projects, Kleenex "Let It Out" campaign, and the United Nations World Toilet Day stamps.
