Scripture matters because it testifies to Christ, the Living Word, and is meant to make us wise for salvation through faith in Him, not merely informed or morally reinforced. When Scripture is severed from Christ, it can be misused or misunderstood; when read with Him at the center, it forms faith, produces wisdom, and leads to life, shaping us into "people of the Book" who are continually formed into Christlikeness through humble engagement with God's Word.
