As a disclaimer, I made it through her personal story of bulimia in the first podcast. She often generalizes instead of speaking about herself specifically. The harmful things she tells herself could easily become harmful things that the listener tells themselves. Self-talk is important, and she seems to understand this, but her self-talk carries judgments beyond herself that could affect her listeners. Sadly, she did not address these judgements directly with her audience. It’s good to be specific, but she introduced self-hating ideas that I had not considered. I’m not fully immune from them, but I have a huge self-esteem, so…it’s probably fine. But, unfortunately, I’ll probably always remember how she factors in age (and other things) as a self-hating idea to be able to control bulimia. At the height of my eating disorder, I would have internalized her words in an unhealthy way and felt bad about myself. As a healthier alternative, I recommend an intuitive eating, mindful eating, or emotional sobriety book.
