In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m talking about journaling and how much it has evolved for me. Journaling is one of the most important tools you can use to live an inside/out life. It helps you get thoughts out of your head, see what’s really going on, and stay connected to how you’re doing mentally, emotionally, and physically. You don’t need to overthink it or wait for the perfect moment. You just need to start.
I’ll walk you through how I used to journal with a strict five-minute routine and how that’s changed into a much more flexible, real-time practice. Whether you type a quick thought in your phone, use voice-to-text, or jot something down by hand, the key is making it simple and sustainable. I use the Day One app because it lets me track my thoughts throughout the day and tag themes so I can see patterns over time.
I also share the “North Star” prompt I always come back to: What am I thinking or feeling right now... and why? This simple question is powerful. It grounds you. It gives you insight. And it helps you shift direction if you need to. Journaling is not just for when life feels heavy. It’s just as important to track your wins and light moments too.
And if you’re on the Daily Email list, you already get a journal prompt sent to you every morning. Use it as is or let it inspire something else. The point is to observe, reflect, and stay aware of what matters most to you.
