The journey and reasons of how we hit rock bottom are unique to each person. Both Brian and Patrick have hit rock bottom before. Interestingly, the similarities come from what happens after hitting rock bottom. After deciding you don’t want to be in that position and place in your life anymore you can bounce back from your rock bottom moment or phase.

 

In this episode of the introspection Hour with Brian and Patrick, we share the similarities in the journey that we continue to be on after hitting rock bottom and sharing our learnings about what we found.

 

The learnings are:

1) Similarities of picking yourself up after hitting rock bottom and the journey afterwards

2) Finding yourself allows you to redefine who you want to be

3) Staying committed to yourself and knowing that the journey will be long but worth it

 

Hitting rock bottom can be a point in life or over a period of time in your life. It can be witnessed by others or completely hidden from those closest to you. Brian hit rock bottom when he contemplated suicide a couple of years ago.

 

Patrick’s rock bottom was a phase of despair and hopelessness that spanned almost 9 months. Avoiding our emotions and feelings will not help in our lives, especially during this period. You have to allow yourself to feel in order to feel alive again. Once you can feel and distinguish your emotions, you can realize where your true internal and positive comes from.

 

Our power comes from taking responsibility for our thoughts and actions and holding ourselves accountable. But we don’t have to be too hard on ourselves, and we can give ourselves unlimited lives to fail and restart. Finding yourself after hitting rock bottom is important. So be honest with yourself, take responsibility for your thoughts and actions and keep moving so that your “willingness to change is greater than your willingness to stay the same”
