It’s a special edition of Hawk Talk as Seahawk Nation rallies behind the South River High School Boys Basketball team as they head into tonight's 2026 MPSSAA Class 3A State Championship game.

Host Tom Frank kicks things off with a message to the team before turning things over to a powerful montage of friends, family, and supporters wishing the Seahawks luck as they prepare to face Magruder High School for the state title.

From the community to the court, this episode is all about pride, belief, and the journey that brought South River to the biggest stage in Maryland high school basketball.

It’s a huge week for Seahawk Nation. For the first time in school history, both South River basketball teams are headed to the Final Four in the same season.

Host Tom Frank sits down with Girls Head Coach Mike Zivic and Boys Head Coach Darren Hall to break down the playoff runs, clutch performances, and the challenge ahead against Baltimore Poly and Baltimore City College.

Plus, shoutouts to the wrestling program as Chris Millard wins the state title at 175 lbs and Trent Shipley sets school records for wins and falls.

This week’s Hawk Talk was recorded in the calm before the storm—right before tip-off of South River vs. top-ranked Meade in a packed gym on Alumni Night. While the Seahawks ultimately fell 61–54 in a hard-fought battle, the real win came from the stories. We welcomed back Seahawks spanning generations—from the very first South River basketball team in 1979 to a legend who went on to play for Georgetown under the iconic John Thompson. You’ll hear unforgettable alumni moments, including:

• Coach Dunne winning the lottery… yes, literally
• What South River basketball was really like back in the early days
• How the program’s culture has evolved—and what hasn’t changed at all

It’s a night that reminded everyone why Hawks basketball is bigger than the scoreboard.
