In this episode, we sit down in the new studio to discuss the role team sports play in forming the whole man. Western thought has long understood that a man's formation involves both the mental and the physical—not one at the expense of the other. From the classical tradition to the Christian understanding of discipline and suffering, the formation of young men has always required more than simply educating the mind.

As we seek a better way to educate our children than the modern public school system, we must be careful not to abandon good things simply because the mainstream culture has turned them into idols. Team sports can be one of those good things: an arena where young men learn discipline, courage, sacrifice, brotherhood, humility, and how to bear the yoke in their youth.
