Today on the podcast April and Danielle welcome Mathew Shepard. He is an Associate Director in the Office of Student Conduct & Community Standards with a specific focus on restorative practices and the university’s response to allegations of discriminatory bias and harassment. He is also an instructor in the Cohort Leadership Program at Stern and a doctoral candidate in the Higher Education Administration program at Steinhardt.

During this interview, Mathew and Danielle connect about both growing up in Kansas and how this impacted their journeys. Mathew reflects on the value of communication and establishing boundaries when forming a healthy relationship. He also highlights the importance of finding relationships and people that fulfill you by using the metaphor of harmony, or someone who operates in the same octave as you. Mathew shares about his experience working at NYU and some of the challenges he has faced related to his identities.
