As electricity demand continues to grow due to advancements in artificial intelligence, the increase in data centers, and broader efforts toward electrification across various sectors, it becomes more important to explore innovative methods of energy generation and storage. In this context, we examine two particularly interesting approaches: emerging technologies that could revolutionize how we produce and store electricity. Additionally, the federal government is actively supporting the revitalization of aging nuclear infrastructure by funding the restart of several formerly retired nuclear plants. Notably, this includes Michigan's Palisades Nuclear Station, which has been shut down for several years. Microsoft has partnered with Constellation Energy to restart Unit One of Pennsylvania's infamous Three Mile Island, a site historically associated with nuclear safety concerns but now considered for future energy use after safety upgrades and regulatory approvals.
