Episode-3 | Disaster Love, But Everlasting Memory Friendship

Every time, when my thoughts hovered to my childhood, I could recollect a 20 plus year-old, memorable sweet disaster of Love, at my grade 4 schooling. I cannot say it is a Love, but Friendship, which is in my memory, so I could say it as a memory friendship.

    Raise for a Cause:

The world started to recover slowly from the COVID-19 pandemic. Many changes post-pandemic but some people never change to drive the vehicles drunken. My friend’s beautiful life crashed and was killed by someone’s careless drinking and driving on the roads. A Year passed, after my friend’s demise, but his memories are still in our hearts. If we dig the statistic of road killings due to drunk, the numbers we see are maddening.

On a fine day, beneath an under-construction bridge, I was driving my two-wheeler vehicle. About 200 metres in front of me, I could see a person who was driving his two-wheeler in one-way and headed towards me. The city roads were already busy, but that person tried, not to use the correct regular roadway and was careless about road rules. He chose one way, only for his ease.

I pulled my two-wheeler to the roadside and tried to stop that person who was driving in the wrong way. The person also stopped by near me. Then I told to him, “Sir, please do not take one way, go on towards the right roadways and also please do follow road rules.” That’s it, this was the only thing I told him, he started to yell at me with pure Tamizh language bad words and showed his worst behaviour.

By that time I also noticed a strong odour of liquor, was flowing from that person. In that situation, my temper was a little bit got out of hand. My angry thoughts went on reminding my friend’s demise because of the same as one careless person.

Without any further thought, I gripped his vehicle key and thrown away to the bridge above me. Then I geared, throttled, and sped the scene. A few metres away I stopped and turn toward that careless person. He was still wondering, what was just happened to him. Moments later, he started to push his vehicle on his legs. I know, while he was pacing, he might dig and yell to all my ancestors from the cemetery.

I’m not convincing or straightening things, that What I did was correct. But on my inside, I felt peace, that I might have stop-off an accident because of his careless drive. Maybe a year back, if someone might have stopped that, another careless drunken driver, would have saved my friend's life and he might have been with us making fun and memories.

I don’t know whether I could do that action all the time, but I may try to stop at least one careless driver if I could.

Now the question is whether you step up to stop the careless and drunken drivers?
