It’s a quiet spring night in 1990, and three men fox hunting in a secluded area of rural South Georgia stand patiently by their truck. Pulled off the side of a dirt road, they wait silently for the sound of their dogs barking to alert them to game nearby. What they hear instead is a vehicle racing down the road towards them. As the vehicle speeds by, the men hear a woman scream. As this general area is known as a sort of “lover’s lane”, they think nothing much of it. Probably teenagers out having a good time. Not until the next morning when news broke that 18-year-old Rhonda Sue Coleman had gone missing the night before, did the pieces fit together a little more clearly. The scream they heard was not that of a young girl having a good time. It was almost certainly a terrified plea, one last desperate attempt to get someone’s attention. It was a cry for help. Amazing.

Figured since I'm sitting here happy sobbing, I owe a review. Also... thanks for setting that impossible bar that'll spur another months long search for a decent podcast. Good thing time heals all expectations, I guess.

AMAZING!!

My grandmother and most of her family are from and grew up in Hazelhurst. This podcast is amazing, it gives me chills and keeps me on my toes. I literally finished it in about 3 days. But it's also very sad and I can't imagine what the Coleman's went through and are still going through. Blessings and prayers y'all find who did this!

Awesome Job

Been following this story for years. No one could’ve told this story any better than Sean Kipe. Job well done. I hope it leads to justice.

simply amazing!

I've always followed this horrific, senseless murder, having so much family in Hazlehurst and being a frequent visitor there. Rhonda was my age and it's obvious her family has endured so much. I pray this brings someone to feel compelled to admit to the crime or tell what they know that leads to closure.
Sean Kipe, you have found your calling!
I've shared this podcast here in SC and many of my friends are listening too!

You are looking at this wrong

Markie didn't do this, but he knows who did.
Mark did "favors" for those who could benefit him later. You need to look into what the families of John and Greg could do for Mark. Anything counts. Mark didn't pay for anything when he could call in a favor. It was like selling your soul...he owned the town. No one will tell because then they will have confess what Mark covered up for them.

Old campfire stories turn into truth…

I’ve lived/been in or around Jeff Davis County for a good part of my life. Always heard the tales of corruption, drug trafficking, murders, etc. but they were so outlandish that I assumed they’d been “colored” a bit by the friends who told them for storytelling purposes. To hear this story come to life - to hear all the evidence - to hear the accounts of individuals’ personal involvement or witness of this level of corruption…. I’m blown away! All the stories I’ve heard are starting to make so much more sense. I’m so thrilled that the Coleman’s are finally getting closer to real justice! I recommend this podcast to everyone I talk to!
