Oh man guys. Part 3 of the Moors Murderers is going to take years off your life or at least rob a small part of your soul. This week we cover the last two murders of Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans. Luckily this week we get the satisfaction of hearing how these two horrific beasts, Myra and Ian were brought to justice. Hold tight to those butts!
Books Alaina read for the case:
Ian Brady:The Untold Story of the Moors Murders By Dr. Alan Kneightly
Evil Relations By David Smith & Carol Ann Lee
Depraved: The Moors Murders By C.G.C. Cook
The Monstering of Myra Hindley By Nina Wilde

Small me in the 80s used to wait in the car when Dad wanted some beer, wondering what kind of "packages" they had in that store kids weren't allowed into. LOL

What I’m at odds with is multiple times in multiple episodes, both ladies make references to the fact they would ‘kill’ this or that person if they had the chance. Then, they profess approval that there’s no death penalty, so there’s suffering by the guilty, so the families can know the guilty are suffering, etc. I think some people are missing the point of the death penalty. It’s, 1) a safety: it rids the planet of dangerous, incorrigible people that will never provide notable improvement to the world, either in prison or out. It’s, 2) a deterrent: in societies that have used it without fail for any length of time, have noted claims of ‘second thoughts’ just prior to the moment of committing whatever crime. ‘If I do this and am caught, I’m getting the needle, rope, chair. Think I’ll pass.’ A much better deterrent than what’s seen with career criminals, psycho-/socio-paths that know that a conviction is nothing more than free room and board with like minded people. An extended vacation for many.
