Is spiritual trauma real? And if so, what is it? In the first episode of this podcast, Dr. Hillary McBride introduces the definitions of trauma in a more general sense, and spiritual trauma more specifically. Trauma in all forms creates a kind of shattering, with a legacy of fragmentation that lives on in our bodies, communities, and stories about ourselves. When trauma happens to us, nothing in our lives goes untouched, reminding us that even if we have been told otherwise, we are still whole. J.S. Park is interviewed as part of this episode, and it concludes with a guided grounding practice. The author began identifying herself as "a white cicgendered woman" living on appropriated lands. This after saying she won't use scripture or church language so as not to bring up past spiritual hurts. So the Bible won't be the answer to the problems she addresses, and she's going to use ideology that less than half of America subscribes to. I prefer biblical answers and not labels that mean nothing, but are popular in this season of division and decisive language.
