Acerca de esta escucha

Alexis and Elliott begin the series with the largely overlooked 11th president, James K. Polk, and are joined by America's favorite satirist, Jon Stewart, writer and comedian John Hodgman, author Regina Mason, and Barney's Creative Ambassador-at-Large Simon Doonan.

Presidents Are People Too!, an Audible Original, recasts each of the American presidents as real-life people, complete with flaws, quirks, triumphs, scandals and bodily ailments. Hosts Elliott Kalan, former Daily Show head writer, and American historian and author Alexis Coe talk to experts, comedians, journalists, actors and re-enactors to better understand the men memorialized on the Washington Mall and those all but forgotten.

I cannot wait to dig in yo more. This show was produced very well and is just the right amount of funny.

Fantastic first episode

Great piece of historical education with great hosts and wonderful guests: a very intelligent kid, a fashion icon, a professor, and 2 men from The Daily Show. I look forward to more of these quick lessons on the President’s and their families, and I really appreciate the examination of how they affected our history with both the nice and the vice.

Fun and Informative!

I love the surprising details. The humor is peppy and smart. I’ve always enjoyed Presidential history, but now I feel even more inspired to read more about the presidents and their times.

Great series! Teddy would say Bully

not a ton of information for someone who knows much about history but still largely entertaining.

pretty good

definitely the best I've heard of information on lesser-known presidents. Highly recommend this. Would be great for High School history classes.

Fun history. Loved it.

Mildly entertaining. Interesting facts about the subject. Could have done without the vulgar language in the contribution by John Stewart.

Not sure who the target audience is, Kids or Adults?

I was extremely disappointed to find out that this book is a comical treatment of our presidency!
I feel as though I have wasted my money in selecting it.
I hope that readers who might make the same mistake will look more carefully as to its content

Not what you may think!

A clear display of neophytes and their facile perspective lacking any sense of temporal or period context.

Clueless

I listened to this (and episode 2 for about 60 seconds). Clearly the authors have no respect whatsoever for the context of historical cultural norms. The purpose seems to be to humiliate, chastise and smear the reputations of anyone who served their country in the thankless job of being President. And to demonstrate their hatred of this country.

The second intro starts out speaking to fellow Americans and "to any other Nationalities who may have ended up here by accident"

Shame on you.

A pitiful attempt at humor...dead people's expense
