  • The Black Bowl - A Japanese Tail
    Apr 30 2024

Welcome back dreamy listeners! Tonight we will drift off to a beautiful Japanese tale called 'The Black Bowl'. This is an old Japanese folktale that was collected and then later retold by author Grace James in the 1900's in her book called 'Japanese Fairytales'. I hope you enjoy it as much as I loved narrating it for you! May this storytelling bring you peace and a restful sleep!
    Your friend,
    Joanne

  • Little House on the Prairie - The Final Chapters! (Chapter 25 & 26)
    Apr 23 2024

[CONTENT WARNING: This story contains imagery of weapons and hunting animals as they were needed for survival during the late 1800's. The story also has racist elements in its portrayal of Native American Indians and may be offensive to some listeners. Although these racist elements are disturbing, it is part of our history and offers an opportunity for open and honest discussions about our past. Hopefully, it will be taken in the context of the times it was written in and portrayed.]

Tonight we have the continuation of the cherished classic story of Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder as I read for you the final Chapters 25 & 26. Little House on the Prairie is the second book of the Little House series. This story is about a little girl named Laura Ingalls and her family who leave behind their little House in the Big Woods of Wisconsin and are now heading to Kansas. The story captures the essence of pioneer life through the eyes of a young Laura. She provides vivid descriptions of the challenges and joys of frontier living with detailed accounts of hunting trips, encounters with Native Americans, and the hardships they face as early settlers. This book has captured the hearts of both young and old, making it a cherished classic.

    Enjoy and sweet dreams!

Fall asleep quicky

I think these short stories are great but I never get to hear the whole story as I fall asleep in the first few minutes. The narrator has a very soothing voice. Thank you for an easy way to fall asleep!

It’s great……

I love listening to Joann’s voice, it’s very soothing, but it does sound a little like a robot… I enjoy the stories, though I have a difficult time falling asleep during them, and usually “drift of” after the story is finished, I believe this is because the stories are very exciting, maybe try make of them a little more peaceful? Anyways, I totally recommend this podcast and will continue eagerly listening!
