David, overwhelmed by enemies too mighty for him, confesses his weakness and testifies that God alone was his support. The Lord reached down, drew him out of danger, and brought him into a “broad place” of safety, freedom, and peace. This picture points us to Christ, who endured the waters of death, defeated sin and Satan, and was raised in victory.
