We all hear stories almost daily now about cold cases being solved by investigative genetic genealogy. This new crime-solving tool answers the “who” question about these often decades-old crimes... but what about the why? This podcast will look at crimes solved by genetic genealogy, and examine the connection - if any - between the victim and the killer, and why the crime occurred. Each case is unique, and has its own story behind the headline. Join us for DNA: ID. New episodes will come out every other week on Mondays.Copyright AbJack Entertainment Biografías y Memorias Ciencias Sociales Crímenes Reales

Episode 154 Roger Dean Part 1 of 2

DNA: ID is back after summer hiatus with a doozy of a case! On Thursday, November 21st, 1985, Roger Dean was seen by neighbors drinking his morning coffee in his garage. The next thing they knew, Roger way lying in the cul de sac, shot to death. His hysterical wife told a terrifying tale of a masked gunman, restraints, demands, a fight, gunshots. After the dust settled, Roger’s wife and daughter ended up in police crosshairs. They would be re-traumatized five years later when the killer resurfaced, trying to extort money from the grieving widow. Even though witnesses had seen the gunman, and the FBI chased the extortionist all over Denver, he eluded authorities, and the case went cold. But, the gunman had made a crucial mistake, leaving behind evidence that decades later would be used by a savvy law enforcement genealogist to identify him at long last.

I like the storylines and it’s a good podcast for just one host. However, I object to the gambling and smokeless tobacco ads interspersed throughout the episode. You’re fighting for victims’ rights while shilling gambling and tobacco? That doesn’t add up.

I can’t leave reviews of individual episodes

She is easy to listen to. Most podcasts want to entertain you with boring personal jokes etc. She is factual, detailed and to the point. Thank you

Great podcast

Very well written, told and fact checked! Absolutely love listening every day. Great job delivering each story and making sure the victims are known not just the crime.

AWESOME

I've loved true crime series and forensics series for a long time, and this podcast really feeds the need to see science--when done right, and law enforcement--when done with conscientiousness--win over human ugliness. DNA and forensic genealogy are such powerful tools, and the stories of the people who get justice and the criminals who face justice after so long are well-told by a host that knows her facts and tells them with heart.

One of my don't-miss podcasts

This review interface is broken. WHY DO MY REVIEWS ALL SAY "TEDIOUSLY REPETITIVE"?? We pay monthly for this service. It appears that Amazon is only interested in profits, not comprehensive customer service.
