Welcome to Cracking the Copyright where we give an inside look into the conversations that inspire the songs we write. We often call ourselves unqualified therapists in that we dive deep into an artist’s life, state of mind, feelings and any problems they are facing. We never know where the conversation will take us or what kind of song it will lead to so join us weekly to be a part of the journey on Cracking the Copyright!Cracking the Copyright Música

Welcome back to Cracking the Copyright! Our aim is to give an inside look into the conversations that inspire the songs we write. We dive deep into an artist’s life, state of mind, feelings and any problems they are facing. The goal is to craft a song from something real and meaningful in the hopes that people can connect and relate to it. Filmed back in early 2022, we had the pleasure of welcoming Blake Proehl to the podcast. This NFL player, TikTok heartthrob, and musician has had his fair share of difficulties in his short tenure with the Minnesota Vikings. After suffering a potential career ending injury, Blake turned to music and TikTok turned to Blake. While rehabilitating his knee injury in 2021, Proehl rediscovered his love for music, and posted a video of him singing for his Grandma which went viral and the rest is history. We had the pleasure of working on his debut single "Falling Into You".

In this episode we are joined by Rex, a Barbadian songwriter, artist and multi instrumentalist. At 16, he left school in Barbados to become a professional musician. With three of his friends, he formed the band Cover Drive, which was active from 2010-2018. Cover Drive scored three top tens on the UK official chart — including the #1 hit record, “Twilight." On the journey they earned platinum records, opened for Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson, and ultimately got dropped by their record label.

Rex’s journey back to the top is underway, and in this episode we discuss the lessons he’s learned from the first time and how he had to redefine to himself, what it means to be a musician.  He has a very optimistic world view and his message comes through in his music.

In this episode we are joined by Kyan Palmer, a renaissance man who's journey spans from being a #1 world ranked child golfer to a recording artist streamed millions of times, ansongwriter, and entrepreneur. You may recognize him from his iconic blue hair, or the insanely high notes he sings on TikTok that'll make your dog bark. We discuss the intricacies of navigating the complex digital landscape that an artist has no choice but to master these days. Kyan has been a long time friend of ours, so he holds nothing back.
